Wi-Fi network design with site survey
Get a network that handles your business's real load: no dead zones or channel overlap, designed around your space — office, warehouse, retail store or high-density venue.
We design with data, not guesswork
We never place access points at random. Every project starts with an RF survey: first a predictive model on your floor plan, then on-site verification with professional equipment. That gives an objective picture: real signal attenuation through walls and floors, interference zones and where users cluster.
The result isn't a rough sketch but a design that holds up in real use: security cameras, POS terminals, and guest and staff Wi-Fi all at once, without dropouts.

How we design a new network
- Step 1 | We survey the space
- Step 2 | We define connectivity requirements
- Step 3 | We choose the access point model
- Step 4 | We pinpoint every device location
- Step 5 | We deploy with confidence

Step 1
Model
your environment
We start by importing your floor plan in any standard format (CAD, PDF, PNG, JPG). From there, Ekahau saves hours of manual work by automatically detecting and drawing walls, doors and windows straight from your drawings. This creates an accurate model of your environment — essential for predicting signal propagation.

Step 2
We define connectivity
requirements
We use proven presets for common scenarios like high-speed or basic connectivity, or set custom requirements for signal strength, capacity, data rate and channel interference so the design supports your most critical applications.

Step 3
Selecting your access point model
We select from a database of more than 4,500 enterprise-grade access points and external antennas, including Wi-Fi 7. Designs are based on the real antenna patterns of leading wireless manufacturers, so the plan is accurate.

Step 4
Pinpointing the ideal access point locations.
Based on your floor plan and the selected AP models, we place APs manually or use Ekahau's algorithms to find ideal locations automatically. The software accounts for walls, distances and coverage requirements to recommend placements that maximize performance while minimizing cost.

Step 5
Deploy with confidence
We produce complete, customizable reports and a bill of materials — a practical roadmap for the installation team.
What you get: detailed heatmaps
Every project comes with visual reports showing how the network will perform in practice.

Signal strength
Primary and secondary, at every point in the space.

Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)
How cleanly the signal reaches the device.

Channel overlap
Where access points interfere with each other.

Network capacity
How many devices each zone supports without degrading.

Expected speed and throughput
The real data rate at every point.
Redesigning existing networks
Much of our work isn't new networks but existing ones that can no longer handle today's load. The approach is the same as for a new network, but it starts from what's already installed.

We survey the current state
Step 1
An on-site survey shows where coverage really drops off.

We build a digital model of the space
Step 2
The survey data becomes an accurate map for the calculations that follow.

We update the requirements
Step 3
We account for more devices, new services and new equipment.

We simulate the improvement before implementing it
Step 4
We see how coverage and capacity will change before you invest in the upgrade.
Precise measurements, not eyeball estimates
Our surveys use professional over-the-air measurement equipment: real signal values are recorded, not theoretical approximations, so the final report reflects what actually happens in your space.
We apply the same principle to cabling certification: you get test reports, not just our word that the installation is good.

What's included

Site survey (predictive and on-site)

Coverage heatmaps

Equipment recommendations report
One accountable lead, start to finish
A project engineer coordinates the survey, design and handover, and installation is done by trusted, vetted technicians. We serve offices, warehouses, retail spaces and high-density venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Wi-Fi design pairs with our other services — structured cabling, video surveillance and cabling certification — so your whole infrastructure is handled by one vendor.
